Father and King of the Gods with all too human impulses and a human disguise/alter ego. Tries hard to keep control and to do the right thing but lust (for women and gold), pride, and jealousy often get the better of him. Expresses love for his family (Gods and Wälsung) but doesn’t behave as a loving father; disappointed in himself. Stops at little in his attempts to recover and keep the Ring and hoard of treasure. Has to admit defeat but finds peace and contentment over the rainbow.
