Having dispatched his brother, Fafner decides he would stand a better chance of keeping the hoard as a dragon. This works for a while, until he meets the ultimate hero, Siegfried. Thanks to the curse, he finds little enjoyment in his protection of his treasures. He seems, when it comes, to welcome death.
