It's Wagner's 212th birthday - so let's talk Puccini and Mahler!
Hello everyone!
Not looking a day over 211… At least the cake is on a plinth…
Happy birthday indeed to Richard Wagner, and also to our board member John Roussety.

Mahler, Resurrection Symphony,
5th October 2025
Last year, we put on a splendid orchestral concert of Strauss’ Alpine Symphony. We had a great time so we've decided to go one step beyond by programming Mahler's majestic Resurrection Symphony.
We begin with a nod to The Ring in the form of Wagner's birthday gift to his wife - the beautiful Siegfried Idyll.
Mahler's remarkable second symphony includes movements for solo mezzo and a moving choral finale with both mezzo and soprano. We welcome back our fabulous Erda and Flosshilde, Mae Heydorn as well as our magnificent Brünnhilde, soprano of the moment, Catharine Woodward.
If you would like to sing in the 100-voice chorus, along with members of the English Arts Chorale and London Gay Men’s Chorus, please do get in touch!
Friends Drive!
You’ll notice, when you go to buy tickets for Hoxton, that quite a few tickets have already gone. That’s because the Friends and Patrons of Regents Opera have had first refusal! If you’d like to become and Friend of Regents Opera for £75 per year, or a Patron for £150 per year, please do visit:
Meanwhile, from behind a piano in a Bohème rehearsal room, I wish you a very good rest of Wagner’s (or John’s…) birthday!
Meanwhile, thanks as ever to our sponsors, Big Yellow Storage in Camberley - thank you for looking after our stuff!
