July Newsletter - The Ring is now on sale, and Amazing Juicy Korngold THIS WEEKEND!
Happy Summer everyone!
This weekend we’re giving one of our wholly enjoyable, and deeply educational workshops on Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s stunningly colourful (and very difficult…) opera Die tote Stadt.
This WILL happen at the astonishing venue that is the Grand Temple in the Freemasons’ Hall, right in the heart of Covent Garden.

Singing the role of Paul is Brian Smith Walters, who returns to Regents Opera to sing yet another role that has been described as unsingable, adding to his tally including Menelas in our October 2021 production of Die Ägyptische Helena.
Singing the doppelgänger of his wife Marie (did he kill her, did he not, that is the question…) is American soprano Jillian Finnamore, who was one of the winners of our 2021 Robert Presley Memorial Verdi Prize and was recently Micaëla in our touring production of Carmen. You can hear her singing Mariettas Lied, from the opera, here.
Observers are very welcome to hear the run through (not a performance, no, this opera needs far more than two days of rehearsal!) on Sunday 17th July at 6pm at the Freemasons’ Hall, 60 Great Queen Street, London WC2B 5AZ. Suggested donation for observers: £10.
Der Ring is now On Sale!
It’s taken a little while, but tickets for our audacious new Ring Cycle are now available for purchase at Ticketsource. You’ll also find all dates and full cast details, and whilst you purchase them (and it wouldn’t be like me not to say this…) the opportunity to make a donation towards The Ring.
