August Newsletter - Bohème in France, Tristan and Mahler

Dear All,

Greetings from about halfway down France, not far from Vichy, where we’ve so far had three performances of La bohème, which have been very well-received, washed down with plenty of wine and cheese. Only a minor crisis of dentistry has dented our enthusiasm, as the crown on my front tooth fell foul to some pizza, and I still, temporarily look a bit like a certain Bond villain…

Tristan und Isolde at Grimeborn

Whilst I’m thrilled to report that Tristan is now sold out at the Grimeborn festival, if you are still looking for your Tristan fix, Shatterbrain productions are running a masterclass on the opera, with two of the singers, Robin Whitehouse and Becca Marriott, being put through their paces by David Edwards, of the Mastersingers.

If you would like to join them, it is at 3pm on Saturday 16th August.

Mahler 2 - Regents Opera relaunch Concert, 5th October 2025

Excitement is building about our Mahler Resurrection Symphony concert on Sunday 5th October at Blackheath Halls. Tickets are well over half sold, and the various things for 2026 and 2027 that we are planning to announce at that concert are taking shape.

If you would like to hear one of the greatest symphonic works of all time, and be the first to learn about what we’re planning in the next two years, don’t miss this!


Welcome to two new Regents Opera Board members

Guy Chapman is a Director of the specialistic arts agency MAKE A NOISE as well as a theatre producer with over 100 productions to date.  Contracts have included  Opera North, Grange Park Opera, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Saffron Hall, Barbican Centre as  well as South Bank Centre.

Sarah Earl is a multi Olivier award winning West End theatre producer with productions including All My Sons , Long Day’s Journey Into Night and Rent , Sarah has also produced Off West End shows, National Tours and at the Edinburgh Festival as well as designing and implementing social media campaigns
