The Verdi Prize 2021 - What happened!
The Fourth Robert Presley Memorial Verdi Prize happened at Rudolf Steiner House on Sunday 17th October 2021.
Winners from left: Edwin Kaye, Jillian Finnamore, Joel Balzun and Luci Briginshaw, with judges Sir Thomas Allen, Gweneth Ann Rand, and Richard Hetherington
After much deliberation, the judges decided to split the prize equally four ways. Luci Briginshaw (soprano), Jillian Finnamore (soprano), Joel Balzun (baritone) and Edwin Kaye (bass) each took home £812.50.
Luci Briginshaw also won the Audience Prize. You can see their performances below.
The other finalists were Georgia Mae Bishop (mezzo), Emelie Kroon (mezzo), Roberto Abate (tenor) and Dongyong Noh (baritone).
The Fifth Robert Presley Memorial Verdi Prize will take place in October 2023. The website will open for entries in March 2023 and will close for pre-judges to choose their finalists on 31st July 2023.
