Oliver was born in London and originally pursued a career as an actor before studying singing privately, currently with Pamela Kuhn. He has performed many of the leading Baritone roles in the standard repertoire for a variety of companies in the UK over the last 20 years.
In the last few years he has specialized in Verdi roles, including Rigoletto, Macbeth, Conte di Luna Il Trovatore. Giorgio Germont La Traviata, Iago Otello, Simon Boccanegra, Ford Falstaff, and Rodrigo Don Carlo. He has also appeared in Fulham Opera’s complete Ring Cycle as both Alberich Das Rheingold, and Hagen Götterdämmerung.
He was a full-time member of the chorus at the Royal Opera House for the 2017-2019 seasons, where he covered eight roles in Macbeth, Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Katya Kabanova and Billy Budd.
He is also in demand as a concert performer, and has sang the Verdi Requiem at St John’s, Smith Square in November 2019. Particular favourites include the Priest and Angel of Agony in The Dream of Gerontius, Carmina Burana, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.
