London-born Bass-Baritone Gerard Delrez won an scholarship to study singing and composition at the Royal College of Music under Gordon Clinton and Herbert Howells respectively before pursuing further vocal training with Ellis Keeler at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and, privately, with Norman Bailey and Raimund Herincx. His career embraces both opera and the concert platform.

Gerard’s operatic rôles include Leporello, Ramphis, Colline, Dutchman, and all three Wotan roles in Wagner’s Ring, adding Hagen to his repertoire for Fulham Opera’s Ring Cycle in 2014. In 2005 he sang Commendatore (Don Giovanni) in the Bermuda Festival, returning in 2007 to sing in La Bohème. He also sang Hans Sachs in a concert performance of Die Meistersinger in Edinburgh. Work abroad includes Alfonso Così Fan Tutte (Cercle Royal Gaullois Artistique et Litéraire) in Brussels and the Polizeikommissar (Rosenkavalier) on tour in Holland. Among 2011’s engagements were Don Magnifico (Cenerentola), Alcindoro (Bohème) and Commendatore in the Soho Theatre. In September 2012, he sang his first Gurnemanz (Parsifal) in Edinburgh, repeating this role for Elemental Opera in 2016.

Concert solo work includes Verdi Requiem at Birmingham Symphony Hall and Canterbury, Derby, Winchester and Arundel Cathedrals, Mozart Krönungsmesse at St. John’s Smith Square with the OAE, Mendelssohn Elijah in Winchester Cathedral, Handel Messiah in Rouen, and Mozart Requiem in Santiago da Compostela. He was the bass soloist in the recent premiere of new oratorio Omega and Alpha by Martin Emslie in Wells Cathedral.
