June Newsletter - Countdown to Cosi with the Southbank Sinfonia
Dear All,
Hope you’re enjoying the summer, now it has undoubtedly arrived! We’ve spent the past two weekends following Die Walküre, giving our Così fan tutte at Shipton Moyne in Gloucestershire and at Walcot Hall in Shropshire. Now is the time to buy tickets for our London show, which is at St John’s Smith Square with the full orchestral accompaniment provided by the Southbank Sinfonia.
Praise for Die Walküre - Tickets for Siegfried and the Full Ring Cycle now on sale.
**** from The Stage (behind a paywall)
Tickets for Götterdämmerung as an individual opera will go on sale at the end of the year with priority booking for Friends of Regents Opera, but for now you can buy tickets for Siegfried and the full cycle.
Orchestral Repertoire weekend - Strauss’s ELEKTRA
We’re hugely looking forward to this, on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd July at Greycoats Hospital School, quite near Victoria Station. For those of you unfamiliar with our Orchestral Weekends, they give us a chance to try out operas new to our repertoire with something approaching a full-sized orchestra with regular Regents Opera faces singing the whole opera through after two days of rehearsals.
If you are a string player, and would like to play, please get in touch with Jon Cooley.
If you would like to be in the audience for the run through, which will take place at 6pm on the Sunday, please do simply turn up! We ask for a minimum £10 donation to cover costs. As always, we take cash or cards!
Other things going on in London soon with our friends:
Parsifal, Act II and Verklärte Nacht - New Palace Opera
St John's Waterloo on June 25th at 7pm.
This is the fourth such concert performance of Wagner presented by NPO.
The principal cast for Parsifal consists of Alex Haigh, Catharine Woodward - [Brünnhilde in Regent Opera's acclaimed Die Walküre] and Nicholas Morris.
Plus myriad Flower-Maidens, several from the Regents Opera's stable of singers.
Rose Opera in Recital:
Our friends at Rose Opera are promoting a recital series with several Regents Opera alumni. On 14th July at 7pm, at Leighton House, 12 Holland Park Rd, London W14 8LZ they will present songs by Korngold, Strauss and Barber, and the singers include Natasha Elliot - for Regents Opera: Hansel, 2. Dienerin (Ägyptische Helena) Flora (La Traviata) and Lucienne (Die tote Stadt), and Rob Byford - for Fulham Opera: The Night Watchman (Die Meistersinger)
And finally, as ever, a grateful thanks to our friends at Big Yellow Storage in Camberley: Thank you for looking after all our stuff!
