Andrew began his musical training as a treble in the choir of Westminster Abbey.

In 1984 he entered the Royal College of Music, to study singing with Edward Brooks.

Since 1991 Andrew has been a member of English National Opera. At ENO Andrew has sung the Shepherd [Pelleas] An Official [Barber of Seville], Border Guard [Handmaids Tale] 2nd Mate [Billy Budd] Chief Soothsayer, [La Vestale] Scynthius [Princes Ida] Henchman [Rigoletto] Hector [off stage], [Trojans] Russian Father [Death in Venice] Guard [La Boheme] Simon Magus [Pilgrim’s Progress] Schabernack [La Grand Macabre] and Alcindoro [Boheme.] Also Sarastro and Colline for the ENO Bayllis programme.

Andrew’s understudies at ENO include Abraham Lincoln [A Perfect American] Private Willis [Iolanthe] Chief of Police [Pirates of Penzance.]The Mikado [The Mikado] Bartolo [Marriage of Figaro] and Alcindoro [Boheme].

Andrew has featured on recordings, television and radio broadcasts and has also sung with The Academy of Ancient Music, The Richard Hickox Singers, The Addington Singers, The English Concert and The Ambrosian Opera Chorus.

Opera engagements outside ENO include Superintendent Budd [Albert Herring] Opera de Baugé, and Sarastro [Magic Flute] Polythemus [Acis and Galetea] Father [Coffee Cantata] and Basilio [Magic Flute in St Albans. Friar Jean [Romeo et Juliette] for Grange Park Opera.

As well as the ‘Charmin toilet roll’ commercial, and the sound track to all the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ films, people say that Hugh Grant often mentions Andrew as his vocal partner in ‘Love Actually’.[‘Good King Wenceslas’]
